How This Started
My fitness routine began at a small club near Avenida da Liberdade 234 in Lisbon. It wasn't perfect, but it was reachable, affordable, and helped me maintain consistency.
After that club closed, I noticed how rapidly the fitness scene in Portugal was evolving. New clubs opened, new concepts emerged, and marketing grew louder than actual member experiences.
I began trying various gyms and classes, jotting notes after each visit. Over time those notes grew into this site, created to help others make better-informed choices.
My Approach to Reviews
Every review on this site stems from actual visits and time spent inside the club. I concentrate on practical details that matter when selecting a membership.
When reviewing a fitness center, I usually:
- Invest enough time to understand routines, peak hours, and patterns
- Visit on various days and at different times
- Experiment with more than one training format and instructor
- Regularly use amenities to assess cleanliness and comfort
- Speak with other members about what remains consistent and what does not
- Take notes promptly after each visit
I update reviews when significant changes occur: renovations, changes in management, pricing adjustments, or new facilities. Each article displays its last update date so you know how current the information is.
What I Look For
My priorities may differ from yours; here is what matters most to me when evaluating a fitness center:
Comfort and privacy: Does the space feel thoughtfully designed for members, with respectful boundaries and a calm atmosphere?
Equipment quality: Are machines well-maintained? Is there enough variety? Are issues resolved promptly?
Crowd management: Can you actually train during your preferred time without waiting constantly?
Clean facilities: Locker rooms, showers, floors, and equipment surfaces. Cleanliness reflects how seriously management takes the member experience.
Honest membership practices: Transparent pricing, clear rules, and no nasty surprises.
Beyond the Gym
Outside of training and writing, I reside and work in Lisbon. This project aims to simplify fitness choices and make them more transparent for those seeking the right environment.
